| I've spent my life losing myself to love. Becoming that thing that is desired most. My own needs and wants buried and forgotten, Until all that remained was a shadow of my spirit. It worked well the way things like that do. When I wanted someone, I had them, But they never had me, not the real me. I lost her somewhere along the way. I forgot what music she liked. I forgot what made her laugh or cry. I even forgot what she believed in the most. I forgot myself in love. What is it you need dear? Hold still, be quiet? Am I distracting you? I did try to follow the recipe, no one else seems to mind. No, I didn't realize there was another way to fold socks. I gave it my all, I perfected the routine. Keeping myself from looking too deeply. I worked and worked and worked, Until there was no work left in me. That's when I stopped, and watched. I listened in careful observation. Then my voice was there, whispering. Strangely my voice came in the form of another. Speaking softly and surely, calling me out. That's when I found myself again, And I found that I wasn't really broken. I found all the bits of me and gathered them close. I learned to listen to myself again. To trust in my intuition. I learned that I wasn't powerless , And I learned to demand my life back. Then I did it too. I took it all back. My life, my love, my self. I took back my future and my hope. I find it most interesting that after years of losing myself to love. This time, for the first time I was able to be found. |
